Ballistic Machinist (formerly known as Tactical G-Code) has been designing, machining and testing all kinds of unusual shotgun slugs. You might have seen some of his designs on his YouTube channel or TAOFLEDERMAUS channel. Recently, he announced that he will start selling some of the most successful slug designs.

Ballistic Machinist’s first product is the slug shown in the above image. It is called Brass Pellet. It is a sort of scaled up air gunpellet style 12 gauge slug with egg-shaped four cuts in the nose. This slug is CNC machined out of solid piece of 360 brass. The Brass Pellet slug weighs 389 gr (about 7/8 oz). When loaded in 2 3/4″ shells it produces 1670 fps of muzzle velocity and 2400 ft/lb of muzzle energy. The Ballistic Machinist will probably also offer 3″ magnum loads which will have an MV of about 1900 fps and ME should be around 3100 ft/lb.

The designer recommends shooting these slugs from rifled barrels because he has experienced the most accurate shots from such barrels. However, Brass Pellet slugs are safe to be shot in smoothbore shotguns too (cylinder bore or cylinder choke only).

The reason why he chose this particular design from a bunch of others he made is that the test firing of this slug showed surprisingly high accuracy as well as impressive terminal performance. Watch the test firing video below.

Here is also a video showing how the first prototypes of the Brass Pellet slug were made.

The second slug design that Ballistic Machinist will be offering right after this one is the Dumbbell slug shown in the image below. Right now, the Dumbbell slugs are available for preorder.

The Ballistic Machinist slugs are made in the USA. They are not available separately and come as loaded rounds. The price for the first batch of 200 boxes is $24.95 per a 5-round box. That price may change later though. These shells are available for purchase at shop.BallisticMachinist.com.
